Bastrop State Park
 
 located close to austin, Bastrop and Buescher State Parks are adjoining parks connected by 12 miles of scenic road that winds through the pines. The park road is perfect for biking or for enjoying a leisurely drive. Set among the beautiful “Lost Pines,” the park invites camping under tall trees near a small lake. The fully-equipped cabins and group facility were constructed by the CCC in the 1930s using local sandstone so that the structures seem to be a natural part of the landscape. In addition to the many nature trails and fishing along the banks of the small park lake, there is an 18-hole golf course and a large, oval-shaped swimming pool. Stay in one of the beautiful rustic cabins or pitch a tent on a soft floor of pine needles, under the shade of the pine trees.
